Slowly saying Goodbye to summer.... Lake Balaton, the "Hungarian sea" is a special place to me, I spend my holiday here every year since my childhood. See the different faces of the lake through my eyes: mornings, sunsets, panorama photos. All were taken by me this summer by One Plus5 phone. No filter is used on the photos. Enjoy it!

Snapshots of a traditional Hungarian village

Picture
Picture
The rural Hungary is very different from the urban lifestyle. Bogács is a little, traditional Hungarian village at the foot of the Bükk hills, known for its healing thermal waters and excellent wine cellars. I personally love this village, so calm and peaceful, I usually spend here several weeks during summer time, since my family owns an apartment in Bogács. Today I went for a walk and took photos about the cute, traditional houses and also walked to the lookout, where you can have a nice panorama on the whole region. Enjoy my photos, as much as I enjoyed taking them for you.

The best cool down places in Budapest

Nr 2: Danube breeze on the Kopaszi Dam

Picture

It's another great place, what locals love. It's located on the Southern part of Buda, right at the Rákóczi bridge. You can hide from the smog and the crowd. There are restaurants and open-air places here and just like on the Római Beach, it's also a family friendly place full of kids corner and playgrounds. Compared to Római, it's a more fancy place, but both has its own charm. I enjoyed a light dinner at Veranda, which is a modern, Italian-styled bistro, great choice! If you like Hungarian cuisine with a modern twist, choose Vakvarjú Beach. At Le Bistro you can dance salsa every Tuesday evening during summer time.

In case you just need a relaxing walk close to the Danube at a clean, nice place, surrounded by nature, go for it!

The best cool down places in Budapest

I don't know about the rest of Europe, but here in Budapest we are experiencing a tropical hot summer weather nowadays. I show you two great places where locals hang out during summer time.

Picture

Nr1: Retro getaway  - Római Beach

"Római part" is basically an hour by boat from the center, if you take the HÉV from the Margaret-bridge, it's even less than an hour, already the boat ride on the Danube is quite a nice experience. The Budapest public transport company owns the ships, that depart every hour from several points of the city. If you have a BKV daily ticket, you can depart with that, but you can also buy tickets on the spot. I took the boat in front of the Parliament, I enjoyed my trip very much.

Arriving to the final stop called "Római Part", you will have the retro feeling, you can eat Lángos everywhere and names like Fellini or Nap bácsi will sound familiar to you.

Nap Bácsi is kind of open air buffet, it was my choice for that day, close to the Danube, sitting on little chairs, snipping a glass of Rosé and their quesadilla is the best I've ever tasted in Budapest.

If you are with children, it's the perfect place, there are little playgrounds and the Danube breeze is so cool. You step out of the city for a few hours and you are close to the nature and the river. Highly recommended afternoon program with friends or family. Let me know how you liked it! Tomorrow I'm posting about another great getaway in the city. Stay tuned!
