Grand ball and carnival traditions worldwide

Festivities occur throughout the world this time of the year. One of the most famous carnival celebrations is the Carnevale di Venezia in Italy with the most beautiful masks. The largest carnival is the street event of Rio De Janeiro, it transforms into an endless party place. Mardi Gras is an exciting time in New Orleans, streets are filled with music and celebrating crowd. The elegant, luxurious balls in Vienna are organized all around the city, the Opera Ball at the Viennese State Opera is legendary. You will find such events like Flower Ball, Doctor's Ball, Hunter's Ball or Vienna Philharmonic Ball in the city. Budapest is no exception in this meaning, I already posted about the Széchenyi Grand Ball that has been organized over 100 years, we do have serious ball traditions as well.
