Camafeu Restaurant
Ramos Pinto wine cellar
Porto is the gastro heaven to me, I love Mediterranean cuisine anyway. Here comes a review on a restaurant in the center, strolling the streets in Ribera quarter at night, than finally eating out in the harbor at locals' place.

Camafeu Restaurant

First evening I was looking for a nice place for dinner in the center and I finally found Camafeu on Tripadvisor. It's a small, cozy restaurant on the first floor overlooking the square. As soon as you enter the place, you feel the welcoming atmosphere, service is excellent and top quality. The design is authentic and elegant with some rustic elements. Booking a table in advance is highly recommended!

Wine cellars

Previously I was sharing with you my cellar visit at Ramos Pinto. There is another very traditional and old winery closed to Ramos Pinto, called Sandeman. However I did not have the chance to visit the wine cellar itself, I enjoyed their food and wine selection on the terrace. They offer several types of cocktails blended with Port wine. Order a cheese and ham plate and enjoy the view of the Douro river!

Ribeira night life

Ribeira has a special atmosphere and the nightlife is pretty amazing too. I discovered cute, little restaurants while walking to the direction of the port. Authentic food, great wine selection and amazing panorama of the wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia on the other side.

Short visit in the harbor

I love harbors, best thing is visiting it early morning and observing local fishermen arriving with their catch. Strolling the little streets and admiring the colorful houses at the port, it's the best way to discover the locals' life.

Local "food avenue" in Matosinhos

In Porto you can pretty much get anywhere within the city even on foot, but discovering the beach and different towns should also be part of the journey. Matosinhos is only a 10 minute-drive away from Porto, harbor area - Rua Herois de Franca - is specialized on fish restaurants. You will recognize the area easily, huge BBQ's are outside, the air is filled with smoke and the smell of grilled seafood. Dish Fish Restaurant is the place I chose for lunch.  It's busy with mainly locals, big selection of fresh fish at a very reasonable price. Pair seafood with excellent local wine, like Vino Verde! If you like eating out in a more authentic style, this area is highly recommended.

Gastronomy is important part of your discoveries, I usually look for both authentic and elegant places, I think it's good to try both styles. I like interacting with locals, just to have an idea of real people' life and get to know their culture.

In the next Fashion chapter I share with you great tips on how to dress during your flight so that you feel comfy and chic at the same time, because your vacation starts on the plane... And how to be stylish on your holiday? The question is answered under the Fashion chapter.
